The Quality of Primary Education is Questioned
The target driven culture has been blamed again for the poor quality of education in England’s Primary Schools.
The national drive which focuses on literacy and numeracy means that other parts of the curriculum are being neglected and children are not enjoying a rounded education.
It would appear that huge amounts of time are being spend on test preparation at the expense of a broader learning experience.
The authors of this site, like the National Union of Teachers and many parents groups, believe that the continued emphasis on testing is damaging to children.
Making learning fun, enjoyable and engaging would achieve far more in aiding the early learning and reading experience, than continued testing assessments, which introduce children to stress at a very early stage in their school career.
The recent Cambridge-based Primary Review's Report claims the priority given to national tests has contributed to a "state theory of learning".
